On Friday, October 4th, the RWB Community wore denim and pink in support of “Lee National Denim Day.” Additionally, all students participated in a “Breast Cancer Awareness Walk” during PE classes. Over $2800 was raised and donated to the American Cancer Society. Thank you to everyone who participated, especially Ms. Merlo for spearheading this initiative.
The week of Oct. 7th was designated as a Week of Respect throughout schools is NJ. RWB took advantage of this week as an opportunity to celebrate our diversity, with an emphasis on a safe, comfortable learning environment. Josh Drean, former mascot at BYU and motivational speaker, kicked off the week for us with his Anti-Bullying presentation. This was followed by Violence Awareness Week and Red Ribbon Week, which began on Oct. 21st. Daily activities were planned in school each day to highlight the importance of healthy, safe decision- making.
The administration and faculty of the Roy W. Brown Middle School eagerly await the arrival of our returning 7th and 8th graders and our new 6th graders in September. The 2013-2014 year promises to be a wonderful one full of academic achievement, personal growth, and social development for all of our students.
