Through our partnership with the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and Englewood Hospital, students with an interest in the medical profession can prepare themselves for entry into nursing schools or become certified as a technician in a hospital setting.

Our ninth grade academy serves as a positive transition for students from the Middle School to the High School. Students are assigned to a team of teachers who monitors their progress and helps them achieve academic and social success.

Participation in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities is important to creating a high school experience that is truly memorable. Bergenfield offers a wide variety of clubs, organizations and athletics. Highlights include New Jersey Department of Education “Best Practice” awards for the Teacher Apprentice program and Breakfast with an Author program. The student newspaper, “Bear Facts”, has consistently been recognized in the field of scholastic journalism by universities, colleges, and professional organizations with award or winning awards which include the Columbia Scholastic Press’s Gold Medalist Writing for 25 Consecutive years.

The Music Department has long maintained a tradition of excellence. Wind ensemble, jazz band, concert band, orchestra, choral groups, and more are available for students with an interest in music.

The athletic Department participates in the N.B.I.A.L. and is a member of the N.J.S.I.A.A. There are forty eight different levels of boys and girls athletic teams. All of ht the above academic and extra-curricular program is folded around a student code of conduct that includes a respect for self, a respect for others, respect for society, and a respect for the environment. The diversity of Bergenfield High School is the greatest asset, it brings us together and makes us together and makes us stronger. Our nationally recognized academic rewards program, Renaissance, continues to reward students for academic success and improvement. Students are earning “success” cards for doing the right thing in class and improving their academic performance. Renaissance o\not only raises the bar academically for our students, but has created a partnership between the school and the community

Bergenfield High School now offers a School to Careers program. As members of the New Jersey School to Career Consortium, our students experience and learn skills in various skilled trades. The program will allow non-college bound students to learn valuable skills that will help find good paying jobs upon graduation from Bergenfield High School.

Finally, Bergenfield High is committed to working as a partner with parents and the community. Parents and community members are cordially invited to come to the school and see it in action.

Sincerely,

Hank Sinatra
