- If a student has a GPA of 3.4 and meets all the criteria for a silver card, BUT HAS 2 TARDIES, is he/she at least entitled to a bronze card?
- Yes, the student is entitled to a bronze card. Tardiness rules have to be adhered to by all students, so even if all other criteria are met, going over on tardies will result in the loss of a particular card.
- As a gold card holder, the students is entitled to "one excused lateness to school per marking period". Let's suppose a student comes into school at 10:12 AM. Even though the student is allowed one excused late, isn't this still an absence from Periods 1, 2 and 3?
- Yes, in this scenario, the student will be considered absent from periods 1,2 and 3. The "late excused" pass is only valid if the student reports in before 8:19 AM. After that, he/she is considered absent, regardless of the card.
- As a gold card holder, can I use my one "excused lateness to school" during either the mid-term or final exam?
- Absolutely not. All students MUST be in school on time during exam week. No one will be excused.
- Can "success cards" be swapped among students?
- No. The name of the person who earned the card appears on the back of the card. You must go back to the teacher who issued the card and request the change
- To be eligible for a gold or silver card, the student may not have more than one tardy per quarter. Is that one tardy to school or one tardy to a class? In other words, if a student comes late once to a period 5 class, is he/she automatically disqualified from earning either a gold or silver card?
- The one excused tardy that gold and silver card holders are entitled to is tardiness to school.
- Will gold, silver, bronze and Bear cards be initially issued based upon Marking Period 2 accomplishments or will it start at the end of Marking Period 3?
- BHS hopes to issue the cards as soon as possible. The renaissance committee is working out the final details of the program. Although their goal is to issue the cards based on MP 2 accomplishments, it may take a little longer.
- To be exempt from a final exam with either a gold or silver card, a student must have an "A' average, up to the final exam. Does this include an A- also, or must it be an A or A+?
- An "A" average means a grade of 93 for each marking period.
