Welcome to Jefferson School!
The Mission Statement of Jefferson School is the guiding principle that drives our outstanding instructional and support programs. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment that will encourage a life-long love of learning for all students. Our goal is to develop the academic, social, and emotional well being of a diverse student population.
Academic development has always been at the forefront of our attention at Jefferson School. We continue to make great strides regarding our exemplary performance on the NJASK in Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades. Our students scored well above the New Jersey state average in Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. Our students have also demonstrated acceptance of our common belief that all students can and will achieve at a high level. Our highly qualified faculty challenges students daily to meet the demands of a highly structured and engaging curriculum.
Jefferson School has embraced the importance of technology as a tool in student learning. All of our classrooms are connected to the internet and we have a mobile laptop cart that is used for research/exploration purposes in all grade levels. Our school utilizes various forms of software to support classroom learning. Most of this software can also be accessed from home thus giving students a further opportunity to sharpen their learning skills. Our faculty continues to focus on incorporating cutting edge technology into planning challenging and innovative classroom instructional experiences.
The Responsive Classroom model of character education is practiced everyday at Jefferson School. The program believes that a solid social program is just as important as a strong academic curriculum and that the greatest cognitive growth occurs through proper social interaction. We believe that there is a set of social skills that students need to learn and practice in order to be successful. Teaching skills in cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy and self-control are a daily part of life here at Jefferson School.
Partnering with parents and guardians to promote a positive image of learning is only one aspect of our shared vision of building a learning community at Jefferson School. Our Jefferson School Parents’ Association and various other parent groups help us make important decisions regarding the educational and social aspects of our school. We share a common belief in educating the whole child while celebrating the joys of childhood.
We look forward to your continued help in embracing the mission of Jefferson School.
