Once again, Mr. Bisig’s Business Dynamics class finished in 1st place for the advisor ranking category of the 2012 SMG Spring Stock Market Tournament. RWB finished ahead of the 2nd place school by $445.60. Within the tournament, eight of our individual teams placed in the top 30 out of 515 teams. Over the last four years, RWB students have won the tournament twice and placed 2nd twice. Great job by all!
Denise Ponte and Joseph Mastroeni, science teachers at Roy W. Brown Middle School in Bergenfield, N.J., have been named regional winners in the Shell Science Lab Challenge, a competition for middle and high school science teachers. Sponsored by the Shell Oil Company and administered by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), the competition encouraged teachers (grades 6-12), who have found innovative ways to deliver quality lab experiences with limited school and laboratory resources, to share their approaches for a chance to win a school science lab makeover support package valued at $20,000. Congratulations to Ms. Maura Andreula and the 2010-2011 newspaper staff, all students who were enrolled in her period 5 Journalism class. The Columbia Scholastic Press Association has designated the Roy W. Brown Junction as a Silver Medalist award recipient at this year’s Scholastic News Print Critique.
