Bergenfield High School finished in First Place at the 2019-2020 Bergen County Debate League Tournament at Dwight-Englewood School on February 4th. The tournament included teams from Cresskill, Ridgefield Park, Wood-Ridge, Dwight-Englewood, and Becton Regional in East Rutherford.
Selected from thousands of entries nationwide, Bergenfield High School in Bergenfield has been named a New Jersey State Winner in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest for its proposed plan to address antibiotic resistance, which is one of the most urgent threats to the global community. The Class of 2019 has led the way in many ways. Because of their leadership, commitment and dedication to academics, for the 4th year in a row Bergenfield High School was recognized by The US News and World Report as being ranked in the top 4% of Best High Schools in the United States. Bergenfield High School has been recognized by the Jay Matthews Challenge Index (formerly the Washington Post) as one of America's most challenging high schools since 2012. For the eighth year in a row, Bergenfield High School (BHS) has been recognized as one of our nation's most challenging high schools by the Jay Mathews Challenge Index. The 2019 Challenge Index places BHS at 937th in the nation and 44th in New Jersey-- landing the school in the top 4% in the U.S.
Congratulations to the BHS students and staff as the number of students receiving AP Scholar recognition increased once again from last year. This year, BHS has a total of 88 overall AP Scholars, with 13 students receiving AP Scholar with Honor, 19 students receiving AP Scholar with Distinction and 4 students receiving National AP Scholar recognition.
