The Bergenfield High School Athletic Department is proud to announce its 2018 inductees into the Bergenfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Those being inducted this year are: former state champion in track, Corey Caidenhead, standout softball pitcher, Melissa Smith Hegel, the 1954 Outstanding BHS Athlete of the Year and three sport star, Pete Colli, the only graduate from BHS to play in the National Football League, Bowie Kennedy, soccer, baseball and basketball legend Vin DiLorenzo, former semi-pro baseball star Richard Eichner, baseball sensation and dominate pitcher Tom Butler, BHS track multi-record holder Maria Nordberg Stivers, long time cross-county and track coach Frank Schorling, and the 1974 state championship football team, under the direction of Coach Bob Taglieri.

Congratulations to the BHS students and staff as the number of students receiving AP Scholar recognition increased by 18 students from last year. This year, BHS has a total of 95 overall AP Scholars, with 23 students receiving AP Scholar with Honor, 19 students receiving AP Scholar with Distinction and 4 students receiving National AP Scholar recognition.
The BHS Class of 2017 has made an impression on the community and has helped BHS receive recognition as one of the "Most Challenging Schools in America" by the Washington Post for the last 6 years. For the second year in a row, BHS was recognized by the US News and World Report as being ranked in the Top 4 % of the Best High School’s in America! For the second year in a row, Bergenfield High School has been ranked among the top 4% of high schools in the nation by the U.S. News & World Report in the 2017 Best High Schools survey. On Monday, March 20th, Bergenfield High School held its annual Honor Society Induction Ceremony in the Bernard T. Baggs Auditorium. There were 270 students recognized in the following Honor Societies: National Honor Society, Art Honor Society, Math Honor Society, English Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society and World Language Honor Society.
