For the eighth year in a row, Bergenfield High School has been ranked among the top high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. BHS was recognized as 1,196th in the nation, 53rd in the state, and 13th in Bergen County in the “2023-24 Best High Schools” rankings.
Congratulations to the BHS students and staff on the number of students receiving AP Scholar recognition. This year, BHS has a total of 122 overall AP Scholars, with 19 students receiving AP Scholar with Honor, 27 students receiving AP Scholar with Distinction, 7 students receiving an AP Capstone Diploma, and 17 students receiving AP Seminar & Research certificates. Last year at Bergenfield High School, 16 students earned the AP Capstone Diploma™. In addition, a total of 12 earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™ during the 2021-22 school year. The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students develop the critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills that are critical for academic success.
Bergenfield High School has once again met the requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey for Schools certification, bringing the total number of certified schools across New Jersey to 352. As leading examples of sustainability excellence, the certified schools provide outstanding learning opportunities for their students and join an established cohort of recognized schools across the state.
For the seventh year in a row, Bergenfield High School has been ranked among the top 5% of high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. BHS was recognized as 1226th in the nation, 52nd in the state, and 15th in Bergen County in the 2022 Best High School Rankings.

For the eighth year in a row, Bergenfield High School (BHS) has been recognized as one of our nation's most challenging high schools by the Jay Mathews Challenge Index. The 2019 Challenge Index places BHS at 937th in the nation and 44th in New Jersey-- landing the school in the top 4% in the U.S.
