District Mission and Goals

Our Mission

The mission of the Bergenfield Public School District is to offer programs and services that enable all students to become self-directed, lifelong learners who are successful in college and the workplace while displaying a strong sense of citizenship. The district provides a safe and nurturing setting designed to prepare students with 21st century skills consistent with New Jersey Student Learning Standards. The Bergenfield Public School District fosters partnerships for the purpose of educational, operational, and fiscal responsibility.

Goals for Continuous District Improvement

Goal 1: Improve academic performance
Goal 2: Improve public relations and the perception of the school district
Goal 3: Improve financial stability and ability to maintain facilities

2025-2026 District Goals

  1. College & Career Readiness
    By June 30, 2026, the district will conduct a college and career readiness survey of high school students and share the findings of the survey with the Board for future planning purposes.
  2. Diverse, Equitable, and Inclusive Personnel & Programs
    By June 30, 2026, the district will participate in three job fairs to attract high caliber teaching staff members for the 2026-2027 school year.
  3. District Operations & Facilities
    By June 30, 2026, the district will conduct an analysis of available classroom spaces and present findings to the Board.
  4. Physical, Social & Emotional Wellness
    By June 30, 2026, the district will conduct student and staff climate surveys and will present findings to the Board.
  5. Community Interaction
    By June 30, 2026, the district will create a 2026-2031 strategic plan committee that will result in a new five-year district strategic plan.
