Bergenfield has been recognized as a "2024 Best School District" by Niche, the largest website for researching K-12 schools! This year, the district ranked 87th in New Jersey and 21st in Bergen County. The district also ranked 1,652nd in the nation among the 12,287 districts included in the report. The district earned this ranking by scoring highly on a variety of factors including key statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and millions of reviews.
Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year will be held online from February 27th through March 1st.
The Bergenfield Board of Education is proudly continuing its free full day integrated preschool program made available through the Preschool Expansion Aid [PEA], and all Bergenfield children who will be at least three years old by October 1, 2024 are eligible. Click the title for more information.
For the first time in school history, Bergenfield High School has earned a place on the College Board’s AP ® School Honor Roll for the 2022-23 school year. In doing so, the high school earned Gold recognition—the second-highest distinction given by College Board. In addition, BHS was further recognized with the AP Access Award.
Bergenfield Public School District was awarded a $12,346 Trees for Schools grant to fund the costs associated with the purchase and planting of trees. This includes planning, site preparation, watering, monitoring, and related expenses over a three-year period.
At Bergenfield High School, 7 students have earned the AP Capstone Diploma. Additionally, 17 students have earned the AP Seminar and Research Certificate during the 2022-23 school year. The AP Capstone Diploma program helps students develop the critical thinking, research, collaboration, and presentation skills that are crucial for academic success.
For the eighth year in a row, Bergenfield High School has been ranked among the top high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. BHS was recognized as 1,196th in the nation, 53rd in the state, and 13th in Bergen County in the “2023-24 Best High Schools” rankings.
